China's top ten nuclear power plants

As of January-December 2020, China will have a total of 49 nuclear power units operating (excluding Taiwan), with a installed capacity of 51027.16MWe (rated installed capacity) and a cumulative power generation capacity of 3662.2. 4.3 billion kWh, accounting for 4.94% of the country's cumulative power generation, up 5.02% from the same period in 2019.

Top 1: Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Zhejiang Province

Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant is the first 300,000 kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant designed, constructed, operated and managed by China. It is currently the nuclear power base with the largest number of nuclear power units, the most abundant reactor types and the largest installed capacity in China. It is located in Haiyan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province .

Top 2: Guangdong Province Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station

Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station is located on Dapeng Peninsula, Dapeng New District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, 51 kilometers away from Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui. It is jointly constructed and operated by Guangdong Nuclear Power Investment Co., Ltd. and Hong Kong Nuclear Power Investment Co. For the 10,000-kilowatt PWR unit, 80% of the electricity produced is supplied to Hong Kong and 20% is supplied to Guangdong.

Top 3: Jiangsu Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant

Located in Tianwan, Lianyungang District, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant is a high-tech cooperation between China and Russia in the nuclear energy field under the policy of deepening political mutual trust, developing economy and trade, and strengthening the strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries.

Top 4: Guangdong Province Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plant

Lingao Nuclear Power Plant was the second large-scale commercial nuclear power plant in Guangdong that the State Council decided to build when the first unit of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant was successfully put into operation in February 1994.

Top 5: Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station, Liaoning Province

Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian City, on the east side of Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea. The site is surrounded by the sea on three sides and is located on the second-level sea-eroded terraces. It is the first nuclear power project approved for construction during the national "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period. It is the first nuclear power project in which China has agreed to the standardized and large-scale construction of 4 million-kilowatt nuclear power units at a time. It is the first nuclear power plant in Northeast China.

Top 6: Fujian Province Ningde Nuclear Power Plant

Ningde Nuclear Power Plant is located in Beiwan Village, Qinyu Town, Fuding City, Ningde City, Fujian Province, China. It is about 32km south of the urban area, east of the East China Sea, and north of Qingchuan Bay. It is the first nuclear power plant built on an island in China.

Top 7: Guangdong Province Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant

Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power plant in China. Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station is located in Yangjiang City on the coast of western Guangdong, with a total investment of nearly 70 billion yuan. It is the second phase of the Lingao Nuclear Power Station of China General Nuclear Power Group, the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station in Dalian, and the Ningde Nuclear Power Station in Fujian.

Top 8: Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, Fujian Province

Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant is located in Qianxue Village, Sanshan Town, Fuqing City, Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China. The scale of the project is 6 million-kilowatt-class pressurized water reactor nuclear power units. The Fuqing million kilowatt nuclear power unit is currently the most independent and localized nuclear power unit in China, and its safety is very reliable.

Top 9: Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, Guangdong Province

Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is located in Chixi Town, Taishan City, Guangdong Province. The project is considered to be the largest energy cooperation project between China and France.

Top 10: Zhejiang Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant

Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is located in Sanmen County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is the second nuclear power plant approved for construction in Zhejiang Province after China’s first self-designed and constructed nuclear power plant-Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant. Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is the world's first AP1000 reactor to use locally made fuel assemblies.
